Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol comes in a faux-wood cardboard box with hand-marked serial matching label, two-piece styrofoam insert with an assortment of factory paperwork including manual and a total of one Colt 7-round magazine. The box has scattered light wear with most at corners and ears, in about Very Good-plus condition. The magazine has a strong spring and intact feed lips with light operational wear, in about Very Good-Fine condition.
Our Assessment: This is a Colt MK IV Series '70 Government Model from 1982. The descendent of the original Model of 1911, it has updates of the 1911-A1 as well as a collet-style bushing to improve accuracy. The pistol is in Excellent condition with little to no sign of use. It comes with its original box, ready to hit the range or join a Colt collection. It even has a scarce 'A' prefix which appears to be an added marking which was used to differentiate pistols when a serial number was inadvertantly duplicated. Please see our photos and good luck!
CA Legal or CA Private Party Transferable: This handgun CANNOT be transferred as a dealer sale in California. This handgun CAN be sold as a Private Party Transfer (PPT) at our Simi Valley shop. All cartridge firing handguns (even C&R's and antiques) sold to a California resident must be DROS'd. This does not apply to out of state residents.

NO RESERVE!! Here's an interesting pistol for the collector of U.S. Military pistols. This is a Colt 1911 U.S. Army .45 automatic that has been renumbered with an 'X-Serial Number'. Shortly after WW1 the military decided that it would institute a program to renumber pistols which had been recovered with defaced or obliterated serial numbers. So as not to duplicate serial numbers already in existance, it was decided to use a special serial range for this purpose, all with the 'X' prefix. This pistol belongs to the first series of X-serial number guns which were renumbered and refurbished at Springfield Armory & Augusta Arsenal between 1925-1953. This particular pistol can be dated to 1942 by the rather rare 'Austempered' Springfield replacement barrel with heat lot 'PX-1'. In addition to the new serial number, this pistol was also hand stamped with 'UNITED STATES PROPERTY' on the left side of the frame's dust cover since the original marking had been removed as well. The arsenal parkerized finish rates about 95% with only light signs of use. The barrel, hammer, safety and grips are all WWII vintage while the balance of the parts appear to be original WW1 in origin. The mechanics appear to be in perfect working order and the bore is excellent. The magazine is a WWII contract magazine with the name 'McClure' lightly marked on one side and a number on the other. The 'X-Serial Number' guns are an interesting variation not too commonly seen. Fewer than 6000 guns were renumbered in total. Buyer pays $20.00 shipping. A C&R License is acceptable for transfer.SORRY, BUT I CANNOT END ANYAUCTION EARLY……PLEASE DON'T ASK!If you have a question, Please feel free to email me directly.
